POINT COMFORT, TX- The Sportsmen’s for Charity Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit composed of employees from Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. Texas proudly announced that its second annual Formosa Hook & Cook for Charity event raised $150,000 to benefit local charities. The event took place on June 25–26, 2022, at the Bauer Community Center in Port Lavaca, Texas, and brought together community members, sponsors, and outdoor enthusiasts for a weekend of fun and fundraising.
The family-friendly event featured a variety of tournaments and attractions for all ages, including:
• Adults and kids’ fishing tournaments
• Cornhole and washers tournaments
• A crawfish cook-off
• Live music, delicious food and drinks
• Door prizes and raffle giveaways
With over 100 teams competing and support from numerous sponsors, this year’s event surpassed all expectations in terms of attendance and fundraising.
Charlie Barton, President of the Sportsmen’s for Charity Club, shared his appreciation on behalf of the Board:
“This year’s event, organized by a group of Formosa employees who have a love for the outdoors and giving back to their communities, was a huge success. We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support from the participants, sponsors, volunteers, donors and Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A.”
Following the event, the Sportsmen’s for Charity Club Board is evaluating local charities and organizations to determine how the proceeds will be distributed—ensuring support goes where it’s needed most.
