In his new role, Mr. Mounger will oversee all business and manufacturing operations for the company. Mr. Mounger joined Formosa in January 1983 and has spent his entire 36-year professional career with the company. He has held positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure including the General Manager roles at Formosa’s Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas facilities. Most recently, Mr. Mounger served as the Vice President and General Manager of the Polyolefins Division since 2001. LIVINGSTON, NJ- Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. (Formosa) is announcing the start-up of the low-density polyethylene (LDPE) unit at their facility in Point Comfort, Texas. The LDPE unit joins the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear-low density polyethylene (LLDPE) units already in operation. “The LDPE unit significantly expands the portfolio of products we provide to our customers,” said Ken Mounger, Formosa’s Executive Vice President. “The range and versatility of our product line is extensive. And Formosa delivers.® Read More Operational Update: Impact of Severe Weather on FPC USA Operations LIVINGSTON, NJ- Due to the severe weather conditions affecting the southern United States, the Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. production facilities in Point Comfort, TX and Baton Rouge, LA continue to be temporarily shut down or operating at reduced capacity. This affects all olefins, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, caustic soda, and bleach products manufactured by Formosa. Formosa is evaluating the impact of this shut down on each of our operating units. Priority is being given to restarting Utility plants to support power needs for local communities during this time of urgency. Any power and steam production from natural gas will be directed toward electrical support for the community and the safety of our complex until the current weather emergency subsides. Global Distribution Formosa’s Marine Traffic department ships an average of 3.3 million short tons of liquid product annually to destinations around the world. This is typically shipped by an average of 490 barges and 120 ships per year. The deep water ships calling on the Formosa’s port in Point Comfort, TX typically can transport 36,000 short tons of product each. In-land barges typically transport 1500 short tons each. Rail Operations manages seven rail storage yards capable of holding 4200 railcars and ships polyethylene, polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride resins. Formosa owns over 7400 railcars in and leases an additional 1800 railcars. Formosa interchanges with the Union Pacific Railroad at our Lolita rail yard. where we currently ship ~3,360 railcars each month.
